Business is…moving along at a nice pace. Meeting more neighbors, improving recipes and processes…I certainly can’t complain.

Another Benefit to Owning a Coffeehouse
Published by November 25th, 2006 in A Working Restaurant. 0 CommentsI’m finding that I have the absolutely greatest neighbors. People I probably would have never met otherwise. I’m so lucky to live in such a wonderful community — it’s a great way to top off my Thanksgiving weekend.
I look forward to the mad rush when people are back in town — the coffee’s hot and fresh!

For an opening day, I highly recommend the day after a major holiday. Very slow, very quiet, and it’s a great way to ease into opening. There are a few kinks to work out, but no major disasters (knocks on pre-formed beech covered MDF).

We’re opening on Friday — the day after Thanksgiving, and we’ll be open all weekend.
Friday 7:30-3:30, Saturday and Sunday 9-3. Then Monday we’re back to the 7:30-3:30 hours. And so on. And so forth.
It’s finally going to be a reality. WOO HOO!!!!!!
…is nerve-wracking. But it worked out well — I passed. There’s a few minor things that need to be corrected in the basement, but nothing that prevents me from opening. Monday I’m going to the health department to see about getting my permits and licenses…and then I’ll be able to announce the opening date.
Everything is clean and ready for inspection — here are some photos of the interior. Doesn’t it look cozy?
I’m moving the coffeehouse blog to WordPress…so it will be offline or wonky for a while. Never fear — it will be back. Many many thanks to Aaron, who moved my personal blog back to WordPress after my debacle with Serendipity. So I figured “Hey if Aaron could do it…” — so voila.
