Sandwich Nirvana

Looking for something sweet and salty, rich and gooey?  Look no further than this week’s sandwich special.
Provolone and swiss cheese, grilled on sourdough bread with spiced fig jam.  I just ate one, and they’re to die for.  Served with your choice of chips or fruit salad, $6.95.
Also — starting next week…or hopefully this weekend, depending [...]

Big Changes Coming…

I’m about to add a few things to the menu, and rework some “old” favorites.  I now have access to really the best-of-the-best, when it comes to high-quality ingredients — and I want the menu to reflect that.  Yes, the prices will go up on some items, and the new items will reflect my higher [...]

This Week’s Sandwich Special

Turkey or roast beef (hand carved, of course) on ciabatta roll with tapenade (homemade), sweet vidalia onion, and dijon mustard.  Lettuce and tomato, too.  Mmmm…  $6.95 with chips.
This week’s baked goods:  Chocolate-chunk, oatmeal raisin, and peanut butter giant cookies…lemon and chocolate mini-Bundt cakes…pecan chocolate bars, brownies, triple-berry pound cake.
Enjoy!

Baking Overload!

Okay, so maybe I went a little overboard…but I ordered a bunch of new items from Stone Mill.  I want to find a happy medium mix of handmade and bakery items, so get ready to do some eating…please.  Starting tomorrow or Thursday, I’ll have pound cake, cookies, mini-Bundt cakes, and pecan bars.  Let me know [...]

Baking Schmaking

Yes, it’s true — I haven’t been baking as much as I’d like.  But never fear — I received yet another shipment of my French organic chocolate, and will be baking again soon, probably this week sometime.  Brownies…and a chocolate bundt cake.  Be on the lookout…
Since the weather has finally turned cold, I guess this [...]

Monday’s Holiday

We will be closed Monday January 15, and will reopen Tuesday January 16.  See you then!

If It’s Friday, It Must Be…

Tuna!
In a wrap or a sandwich, it’s the Fish on Friday special.  All white meat albacore tuna with mayo, spices, herbs, and lemon zest.  Mmmm.  Get it while it lasts, because once it’s gone — well, you know.  Hasta la vista, baby.
I’m going to be baking for the weekend — I’m thinking scones, cinnamon twists, [...]

Organic Schmorganic

I wrote about this topic once before, when I had the previous version of this blog.  It’s a topic that I return to again and again, when developing new items for the menu, and I thought it would be nice to let people know what I’m doing in regards to eco-friendly food and drink.
While it’s [...]

Baking Love

Pound cake.  Who doesn’t love pound cake?
Smothered in coconut, or a layer of shaved Swiss chocolate….or how about a light lemon glaze?  Pound cake is in the pastry case, along with red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese butter cream and a gorgeous apple jalousie.  If you’re not familiar with a jalousie, it’s similar to a [...]

Today I’m Tired.

For the first time since opening, I’m tired.  And not in a good way.  But never fear — tomorrow’s a new day, and I tend to recover from things very quickly.  Sigh…
I have to always remind myself that I’m one of those wierd “weather-sensitive” people, and rainy days aren’t good days for me.  So instead [...]
